How to Report Spam
If you do receive unwanted mail in your inbox you can report it to your internet service provider as spam very easily. In your inbox, select the message and click on the button that says Spam or Report Spam. This will alert your provider not to deliver mail from this address in the future because it is from a spammer. In the same way you can report messages in the Junk folder as not being spam by selecting the message and clicking the Not Spam button. According to your specifications, it will either move it to your inbox or leave it alone. If your e-mail provider does not have these easy buttons, it might helpful to e-mail them to find out their policy on reporting spam.

Don't Let Them Take Credit
It is illegal for any company to make money off a sweepstakes. That's why you hear many media announcers say, “no purchase necessary!” It's not to say that companies won't ask you to do a task in order to be entered in a contest, like take a fun survey. Beer companies have been known to do this. If it is a lesser known company, it's still fine since you don't have to pay for anything.
However, if they ask you to give them your credit card number as a deposit don't trust them. Even if they say it's just to reserve a space in the contest. This is a sweepstakes “no-no.”

Consequences of Indiscretion by Panelists
The penalties of indiscretion by panelists are clear-cut. If a survey company finds out that you have been on message boards telling others about the surveys you have taken and inside details about the company or the surveys, your account will automatically be terminated and you will no longer be allowed to take surveys for that company. Although the penalties would be the same whether you were talking about the company online or offline, the former is easier to find and prove.

E-mail Confirmation/Activation
One way that legitimate survey companies such as Ipsos ensure your safety is to send a confirmation e-mail after you sign up with them. This means that you will receive an e-mail stating that if you are the one who signed up with the company, you must follow a link to activate the account. If you did not sign up and someone had used your e-mail account without your knowledge, you can void the account by deleting the e-mail and never clicking the link. This ensures that the person who signed up for the account is the person using the e-mail address specified.

Anti-Spam Laws at Work to Protect You
The Congressional anti spam law, the CAN-SPAM Act, is working hard to protect you from unwanted mass e-mails. Since January 1, 2004, the anti-spam law has required a national "Do Not Spam" list that forces marketers to include an opt-out link in the e-mail so that you will not receive any further communication if you choose. It also makes illegal the sending of fraudulent e-mails and unmarked pornographic mail. Those caught breaking the rules can face stiff penalties. This law coupled with greater technology and anti-spam advancements from internet service providers is cleaning out inboxes and clearing the way for wanted mail only.

Saving Survey Time
What's the best way to distribute your survey? You could hand out surveys at the library or in a public center. Then of course you'd have to wait around for people to fill them out.
The other way is to set up an Internet survey by creating a website for people to log into to take the survey whenever they want. Since it is done online you can get and transfer data easily. Plus, to get people to sign up for the survey all you have to do is just send them the link.
